Dear Barry: Hi, how are you? How was your Christmas? I hope it was very nice, peaceful, & relaxing. Mine was alright, but could've been better. Did you drink any eggnog? I wanted some but had some earlier in the month when my mother bought some, which took my less than 2 days worth time to drink it all up! I was very happy & pleased with all I got for Christmas, as my family was very happy with what I had gotten for them! We took a few pictures while we opened up the presents. Actually, I wrapped up all our Christmas presents except mine. My mother had to, of course, wrap up my presents as she didn't want me to know what I was going to get for Christmas. But I got to play Santa by handing out the presents to everyone. So, my Christmas was OK with the exception of having to deal with some "B.S" by a few of our relatives. I was glad when they left to go back home! I couldn't deal with them another night & day, emotionally. It wasn't a very good Christmas for one of our neighbors who live 2 houses down from us, as their house caught on fire the day before Christmas eve - which landed on the local TV news on Christmas eve. We watched the story on the TV in such shock & disbelief. Everything in their house was ruined & burned down. Luckily nobody was hurt or injured during the fire, except a little boy who was hiding the entire time, as he was scared. A family relative reported that all their Christmas presents were going to be replaced with no problems at all. Yet the Red Cross paid the family, for a few night stay at a nearby local hotel. My family & I assumed they were going to spend Christmas day at a close friend's or relative's house. My mother & I were thinking about the, hoping they all were OK. I wound up having a touch of a sore throat on Christmas eve, as my family & I noticed the strong, smokey fumes that filled the air outside from the burning house. Our direct next door neighbors had to evacuate from their home, being that they were right next door to the burning house. The smoke was very strong to breathe! The little boy who was hiding the entire time in the burning house, probably needed some medical attention from inhaling those burning fumes! But anyway --- Now, I'm sad to say that my mother just fell & hurt herself the evening after Christmas eve. She went out for the evening & had fallen & hurten herself. She was rushed by ambulance to a hospital to have a cast to put on her. And my mother has been in the hospital several times this year as it has been. 2002 wasn't a very good year for us all, & hope 2003 won't get any worse! And I tell you, my anger goes towards the character looking down at all of us! The same one who allows allot of bad things happening to people. Sad to see that nobody is doing anything to make this world a better place. Too much racism, prejudice, sexism, discrimination, poverty, homeless people, War, AIDS & other serious diseases & illnesses existing, starving & dying children who live in countries who no food/shelter/homes/education, etc ..... and I could just go on & on ..... Why go to church when our prayers won't get answered? Why "idolize" some character who doesn't even exist, when people only come up with these lame theories that things happen for a reason, or better known as, sh** happens! Yeah, well, I get sick of that!! I'm tired of sh** always happening & things always happening "for a reason" .... that's all just a bunch of bull ! Sorry Barry for carrying on, but I'm just not a happy camper right now. Wish you were here to cheer me up.

(AskBarry@Manilow.com) Hi Barry! How are ya!? I hope you are doing great. I hope you get to read my message here, I really hope you do. I want to ask you something: Do you believe in psychics? Like if some person came up to you & told you some things that nobody would know other than you or if that person told you something that may occur in the near future which would apply to you. What are your thoughts on that? Another question: Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever encountered any ghosts(apparitions)before? If not, what would you do if you were somewhere & saw one? Personally if I saw a ghost, I would not want to see it alone. I would rather have someone with me(like you)while encountering one, so I won't feel scared, alone, & if I told someone I saw a ghost by myself, they would only think I'm making up a story just to shock others. They would think I've lost my mind & gone crazy! Haha! Barry, there's something that's been on my mind for awhile. Your bronchitis problem really concerns me. You've been getting sick off & on in the recent past because of that. Is your bronchitis problem the cause of when you used to smoke when you were younger? Or is it mostly from 2nd hand smoke? Listen, Barry, If anything seriously bad ever happens to you(which I hope not!), I would be extremely devasted!! Anytime I hear on the news that you may be hospitalized for something, or anything medical-related, I panick! I'm sure you're getting the best of care & there are others that are taking good care of you, which is great, but still ...... I can't imagine this life without you. You're the only thing that makes me smile and/or laugh. You're the apple of my eye. I think about you day & night Barry, I love you, I really love you so much! And I'm not just saying that like every average fan does either. I mean it! I love you so much that as a "symbol" of my devoted love for you, I wear a necklace around my neck where the necklace charm is a picture of your beautiful happy, smiley face. It's a picture taken of you while attending an amFar event. I kinda feel like I'm "married" to you even though we're not together, we're not in each other lives unfortunately. But this necklace thing, is a symbol of my true love, for the one & only person I deeply care about & love the most. I wish I could send you gifts & even cards in the mail, but don't know where to send them to. If I sent them to the fan club, how do I know you're gonna get my stuff or not? I want to talk to you Barry, I wanna contact you someway/somehow privately. I've got a musical background, as I've loved music for years! I'm happy to see that you are so involved with your music. Keep up the great work Barry! If there are any more questions I can think of to ask you, I'll write some more later. Barry, I hope that 2003 turns out to be another successful year for you as it was for this 2002 year. I'm so proud of you & your accomplishments. I wish I could see you, so I could give you a big, long hug & a sweet(lip)kiss, but just know that I'm thinking of you. Barry, don't make fun of your nose. I know you've always loved to joke about yourself, in regards to your nose. Don't feel bad about that Barry. God created you, as a special person. I see your baby pictures & I say, Awwww, how sweet! You were such a little cutie as a tiny infant baby & even as a little boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York. Actually, you are still that same cutie pie, you still have that adorable boyish-like charm. I know there are lots of women who would just love to give birth to little boys that looks exactly like how you were. I love your name Barry, it's a very lovely name for a male. About your nose again, no, I think your nose looks just fine. Well for me, the only feature about me that I don't really care too much for, are my feet. My feet look horrible! I can't wear lady's high heel shoes cause my feet really aren't made or designed to wearing those kinds of shoes. My feet just looks funny & honestly, I hope I won't ever end up with foot surgery someday because of that. So anyway, my feet are mainly the only thing about myself that I really don't care too much for. If we were keeping each other company, we could sit together comforting each other, as I'll admire your nose while you admire my feet. Barry I want to know something, if I sent you my phone number, would you actually call me? When(female)fans give you their telephone number, do you ever call up any of them? It would be great if you did, but being that you're so busy allot & being on the road(touring), I can understand why you wouldn't really have much time for that. But to at least put every fan's telephone number in your address book(for future reference)would be really great! It's every fan's dream come true, to hear from you & get to communicate with you privately, through postal letters(or emails), or even telephone calls. Barry, I want to ask you something about dreams while sleeping. What kind of dreams do you have? Are they mostly beautiful dreams, happy ones, fantasy-like dreams, or do you get bad dreams or nightmares allot? I find that sometimes when I dream, I feel like I'm in another life, in another world, dreaming of the rare & unknown things. Just discovering rare & unusual things that I wouldn't even experience in reality. Sometimes my dreams(that are good ones), are so great that I wish I could actually "live those moments". Like leave this existing life & enter another one you know? And by the way, you are in my dreams(just when I think about you)but unfortunately, I don't see much of you enough when I'm asleep, dreaming away. The dreams I have had in regards to you, well they never lasted long. And sometimes there are moments when I'm looking for you. I see you one minute(in my dream)and then you disappear. I get sad about that cause I wanna be with you in my dreams - well actually, I wanna be with you anyway. I wish I could wrap my arms around your waist & just hold you forever. I wish I could kiss your neck, chin, & entire face without stopping. When you do that duet with Debra Byrd "Baby It's Cold Outside", if that were me in that make believe story(with you), I would never let you beg! I would stay with you & let you hold my hands to keep them from being cold. I would let you wrap your arms around me, I would never try to escape from you, leaving you alone. You can kiss me anytime Barry! I would definately love that! Barry, I have to go only for now, but not forever. Just remember I love you(like that song from your Summer of '78 album). "We'll go dancing in the dark, walking through the park & reminiscing" ! I Love You Barry!! You mean the world to me! PS - Keep smiling & laughing. You just glow, light-up like a Christmas tree when you show your happiness.(And I hope that you are happy as you say you are.) My beloved, sweet Barry, again, I really love you! Have a beautiful day! Thinking of you always & always.

OH & ANOTHER THING "MISS PRISS" JUDY KAVITSKY, I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU YET CAUSE I'VE GOT SOMETHING ELSE TO SAY TO YOU .... IF I DID ALL THOSE TERRIBLE THINGS LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO OTHERS, IF I DID ALL THOSE BAD THINGS TO ANYONE, IF MY FOLKS EVER FOUND OUT WHAT I DID OR IF I TOLD THEM ALL THE TERRIBLE THINGS I'VE DONE TO ANYONE LIKE WHAT YOU DID, MY FOLKS WOULD EITHER HALF-KILL ME OR SLAP MY FACE, OR WHIP MY BEHIND!!! WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT YOUR OWN FOLKS SHOULDA DONE TO YOU!!!! YOUR FAMILY DON'T SEEM TO BE TOO CONCERNED WITH ALL THE CRAP & SHENANIGANS YOU HAVE PULLED ONTO OTHERS. WHAT KIND OF FAMILY DO YOU REALLY COME FROM????? I GUESS THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN YOU, HUH. WELL I TELL YA, IF YOU KEEP CALLING UP PEOPLE'S HOMES, EVENTUALLY PEOPLE ARE GONNA START CHANGING THEIR PHONE NUMBERS. INCLUDING EMAIL ADDRESSES & ALIASES ON THE NET. IF MY MOMMA EVER LEARNED ABOUT ME BREAKING INTO A FAN CLUB'S ACCOUNT OR WEBSITE, MY MOMMA WOULD KICK ME OUTTA HER HOME, SHE WOULD EITHER DO THAT, OR SEND ME TO A PSYCHIC WARD IN A WHITE PADDED ROOM WITH NO WINDOWS NOR CONTACT WITH THE OUTER WORLD, & THENSOME!!!!!!!! AS LONG AS YOU'VE GOT ACCESS TO A COMPUTER, YOU'LL NEVER EVER LEARN YOUR LESSON. YOU'LL NEVER, EVER BE SORRY NO MATTER HOW PATHETIC YOU KEEP SAYING IT, & PLEADING FOR PEOPLE TO TALK TO YOU. DON'T GIVE PEOPLE THIS BULLCRAP SAYING YOU'VE GOT NOBODY TO TALK TO, THAT'S A LIE!!! CAUSE YOU DO IN FACT GOT SOMEONE TO TALK TO, YOU ALWAYS MANAGE TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TALK TO, NO MATTER WHAT!!! SO DON'T START PLAYING ON PEOPLE'S SYMPATHY CAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO GIVE YOU ANY SYMPATHY. PEOPLE ONLY PITY YOU, CAUSE YOU'RE NOTHIHNG BUT A LONELY, MISERABLE PERSON WHOSE GOT NO LIFE, OTHER THAN TO TRY TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION, WANTING PEOPLE'S ATTENTION, BE ANNOYING, BOTHERING TO THIS PERSON & THAT PERSON, GO ALL OVER THE NEWSGROUPS ANGERING PEOPLE TO DEATH, SCARING PEOPLE AWAY BECAUSE OF YOUR WEIRD & NUTTY BEHAVIOUR, SO MANY FAN CLUB WEBSITES HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN CAUSE OF YOU, YOU, YOU!!!!!!!! I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW, CAUSE APPARENTLY THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT. YOU HAVE SUCCEEDED IN WHAT YOU DO BEST! AND YOU'LL NEVER QUIT. YOU'VE GOT THE MIND OF A CHILD, SADLY THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN ACT YOUR OWN AGE! PEOPLE AT THE YAHOO GROUPS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSING ABOUT YOU BEFORE IN THE PAST, HOPING TO WARN OTHERS OF YOUR BEHAVIOR, THEN IF YOU FELT THAT PEOPLE WERE ONLY STARTING A HATE CAMPAIGN AGAINST YOU, THEN SO BE IT! MAYBE IT IS, MAYBE IT'S NOT, BUT ALL ANYONE CAN SAY IT THAT, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A TROLL, WHO ACTS LIKE A STALKER WHO CAN'T SEEM TO FORGET ABOUT A FEW PEOPLE YOU'VE ONCE CONTACTED BEFORE! GET A GRIP WITH YOU? AND A LIFE!!!! OH YEAH, IF YOU ONLY LIKE A CELEBRITY ONLY FROM THE PAST-TIME & NOT THE CURRENT, YOU MAKE IT SEEM LIKE THAT CERTAIN CELEBRITY HAS DIED & NO LONGER EXISTING WHEN THEY IN FACT ARE STILL GOING STRONG & ACCOMPLISHING ALLOT MORE THAN EVER BEFORE. IF YOU WANT TO BE AN EX-FAN TO A CELEBRITY, THEN GO RIGHT AHEAD, NOBODY'S NOT GONNA STOP YOU, BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU ONLY LIKE SOMEONE(WHOSE STILL ALIVE & DOING WELL)ONLY FROM THE PAST, HONEY, YOU'VE GOT SOME REAL SERIOUS ISSUES! AS IF ALLOT OF US DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT!!!!!!! HAVE A NICE LIFE(YEAH, SURE, WHATEVER?)!

To "Miss Priss" Judy Kavitsky, or shall I say "Miss Troublemaker". Allot of us are really sick & tired of you being such a troll all over everywhere on the net. Thanks to you & your shenanigans, so many people who have Yahoo groups are making their groups Restricted Membership, hoping to keep your little butt OUT! and making sure you don't join any groups harrassing their members & posting all the crap that you do! It's people like you who shouldn't have access to a computer, I don't know why you & your DYSFUNCTIONAL family has a computer?! Which is totally beyond me. Everyone is completely disgusted how you troll around all over the net & newsgroups, stop blaming your stupid psychotic behaviour on your PSM/mood swing changes cause that's not gonna cut it. We're all sick of it!! Quit saying you're sorry WHEN YOUR NOT!!! only when you turn right around & start your crap all over again. You're responsible for your actions & behavior. You're nothing but a little monster, every person's worst nightmare!!! I'm writing this message in hopes of warning people who don't know beans about you(yet)but when someone reads this message, hopefully they'll learn not to ever have anything to do with you! You just don't know when to quit, do ya? Pretty sad, pretty PATHETIC! And by the way, don't be telling or advising people to take their meds, YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE TO TAKE YOUR MEDS!!!!! Maybe, perhaps you need to go back into that psychic ward(again)where you once were. You belong there, NOT ON THE NET being such a royal pain in the rump! People are really sick of you!!! You have embarrassed the fan club community of all over. You give the "good" & loyal fans a bad name! You oughtta be ashamed of yourself! Please, STOP being such a little sh** !

Dear Barry: I just wanted to write to you & tell you this. You are the best, the greatest, the most adorable, & the most talented man on the face of this earth. There's no other that can(or ever will)top you! I adore your beautiful blue eyes, your voice, the way you talk & sing, and I just love the way you smile & laugh. I either smile or start giggling when I just simply think about you. I love to observe the way you play piano. I used to take piano lessons myself years ago but that all stopped cause my instructor moved away, so my interest in piano playing(sadly)just vanished like a puff a smoke! My favorite subject back in my school days were also music, so I can totally understand where you're coming from, as you love music too. I certainly wish all men could be just like you. Everyday goes by & I always think about you. Barry, never feel alone & never think that nobody loves or cares about you, cause me & all the other fans do! (Remember that.) You'll always be in my heart, cause you mean so much to me. Just want to tell you that, I will love you forever & ever ! Take very good care & God bless you! (Bless your heart, my sweet Barry) xoxoxoxo

Dear Barry Manilow, contact Elton John, about my idee, best regards Paul Quekel

Dear Elton John, go to Johannesburg with a new song for all the children in the world. We are all children and we need all together a New World. I ask you kindly to write a song and sing this song with colleague singers as many as possible. Make a John Lennon revival.

The world is running into an individual madness. Visite the website www.sdnl.nl and New Rain Forest, My idee for a better world. It is in Dutch

Best regards,

Paul Quekel

Grotestraat 413 5142 CB Waalwijk The Netherlands

0031 416 563055.

This is my idee for a new song, perhaps you can use it:

We are the children, the children from children We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

Never forget our creation based on peace and love

Lofty between people and people

Between people and animals

Between animals and animals

Connected by the love of the world, all together

We are the children, the children from children

We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

Remember the air, the plants and water

Born in the World of our existence

Forget the war, forget the sorrow

Stop the egoism inside yourself

Find the new way of love all together

We are the children, the children from children

We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

Stop the illness and starving for all the children

Give them hope and future for a better live

Be the true leader for all the people

Give new happiness for all the living creatures

Give them breath of live, with a new life spring all together

We are the children, the children from children

We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

Rebuilt a new way of live for the world

Because we have the love, all the love for life

Our life for all the children for a better world

The destination of the world is our responsibility

Give love and peace to the children, all together

We are the children, the children from children

We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

Make our lives valuable for health and beauty

Change for the better world is still a great possibility

Give our world a new virginity off love and peace

Demanded to the world Leaders by the children

Let born the new love in our peaceful world, all together.

We are the children, the children from children

We are born in love from all the children

We are the New World for peace and love, together

World Summit on Sustainable Development

Greenpeace to Bush: Go to Johannesburg

Earth Summit

Just months before he lost his re-election bid to Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr. reluctantly attended the first Earth Summit, the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This historical meeting was attended by 172 nations and 108 government leaders.

The landmark agreements that resulted from the meeting include:

Agenda 21 the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, the Statement of Forest Principles, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.

Ten years later, President George W. Bush is faced with the moral challenge of the 2002 UN World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) this August in Johannesburg, South Africa. This conference will focus on setting the course for the 21st century to solve the plight of the world's poor. Some 60,000 people are expected to attend the meetings and parallel conferences. In order to truly address the world's global environmental and development problems, it is imperative for George W. Bush to attend this meeting, and show the international community that the U.S. is ready to participated in cleaning up the planet.

About 1/3 of the world's human population lives without access to modern energy sources, like electricity. As access to energy grows, force governments to ensure that energy developers choose clean energy development and stop forcing dirty power on the people and our environment!

The Johannesburg Earth Summit presents a chance for the Bush Administration to use the power of the United States to achieve real progress, tackle poverty and gain real security for the planet. But it will not be progress if all it achieves is opening doors for U.S. corporate enterprise around the world. Progress and lasting security will only be achieved by helping developing countries leapfrog our dirty polluting path of development and start fresh with renewable energy, clean transportation, sustainable forest conservation policies and clean production technologies in manufacturing and agriculture.

In the end, the relationship between the Bush Administration and corporate America may be too strong to allow room for progressive development policy. If that is the case, the U.S. must not be allowed to obstruct governments of the world as they lay out a vision of a secure future with clean development. Bush must go to Johannesburg and join world leaders in concrete commitments to tackle poverty. It will be a national disgrace not to attend this historic meeting. The United States, the most powerful and consumptive economy on the planet must lead the world to solutions.

Ten Years After Rio The embarrassing fact is that ten years after the Rio Earth Summit, we have done little to solve the unfolding environmental catastrophe that stands to undo both the planet's natural systems and human societies around the world, especially in the less advantaged, so-called developing world.

The problems identified in Rio, and the solutions to those problems are ever more pressing. Global warming (climate change) and the need for a clean energy revolution were central to the agreements of Rio. Unfortunately, efforts to solve global warming and the restructuring of the world's energy economy are slow. The necessary and urgent move away from damaging, polluting fossil fuels and toward renewable clean energy technology like wind and solar power is blocked by the massive corporate base of big oil, big coal and power corporations. Corporations like ExxonMobil and others have worked for the last ten years to block governmental solutions to global warming. Meanwhile large multinational corporations, international financial institutions and ill-placed foreign aid continue to spread dirty power development in poor countries and start these nations down the wrong road.

Mapping out the Road from Rio to Johannesburg

World leaders still can use the chance to make the Earth Summit in Johannesburg a milestone to start the clean energy era, making the right choice for the world. Background documents detailing the proceedings of the preliminary rounds of the 2002 Earth Summit show that many governments have acknowledged the importance environmental threats, including global warming and have taken seriously the challenge of energy development in the developing world. However, they have yet to make environmental solutions central to the August meeting.

The Greenpeace ship the MV Esparanza will be in South Africa during the summit helping to focus world attention on the important decisions being made there. The ship's work is just part of Greenpeace's Countdown to Johannesburg, which will involve activities across the globe. Greenpeace is campaigning for governments to take the lead in global sustainability, and stop abdicating their responsibilities to corporations for protection of the planet.

A Call to Action!

Greenpeace is calling on governments around the world to commit to:

Ensuring access to sustainable, renewable sources of energy to the two billion of the world's poorest people who do not now have access to modern energy services; and Rapidly accelerating the development and use of renewable energy technologies in the developed world. Renewable energy can meet our energy needs, while also improving national and global security, enabling countries to develop in a sustainable manner, and reducing the threat of global warming.

Facts about renewable energy

The United States could satisfy all of its energy needs with solar plants on land 100 miles square in Nevada: Wind energy is the fastest growing energy source in the world and is now cost-competitive with conventional energy in good wind sites. Denmark now generates 18 percent of its electricity with the wind; The United States has more solar, wind, biomass and geothermal energy potential than most other countries in the world. Follow Greenpeace's worldwide sustainable energy development campaign by visiting our "Stop the War on the Planet" website.

If you don't believe the US can viably invest in sustainable energy, you're wrong! Find out more about how California is choosing positive energy by visiting Greenpeace's Clean Energy Now! campaign's website!

DEAR, BARRY My name is Jim Glazier, from 4308 42 AVE. #20 Rock MTN.. House Alberta, Canada . And I need the help of someone with great influence over people and the resources to convince people they can protect there property. I am not trying to get a hand out, but perhaps some kind of business venture where we both can make money. I have been interested in vehicle security since 1997. I get sick when I hear of peoples property stolen , damaged , and even lives lost from such a preventable problem as car theft. I have looked at many vehicle security devices and there weakness, and endeavored to build a device that is easy to install and also user friendly, and very difficult to remove. I have built prototypes, and have used one on my vehicle for three years even in big cities, and always felt comfortable that my car would always be there where I parked it. I also installed one on an old truck in an auto wreaker and it took three big men 4min. 56 seconds to remove it, only by braking the floorboard because of too ridged a base. This has since been redesigned to be flexible. It was encouraging to see one person could not remove it. It is loose enough installed, that it cannot be cut with a hacksaw, since it is made with good strong steel. The lock cannot be frozen because it is incased with steel and a small air space. These men ! tried with hammers and feet to remove it and only exhausted themselves. Since joy rides and theft of vehicles for the purpose of committing a crime are the main reasons for general auto theft, I know this will be a very good and secure type of vehicle theft deterrent. I have a U.S. patent and applied for an international patent with the help of a company in Ireland, who have done up for me a confidential research report, on North America, and Europe and are at this time trying to find manufactures all around the world that would be interested in building this device that I call "Brake Lock. There is some simple electronics that serve as a trade mark, as well as takes care of the brake light problem. I recently have had interest from England and Illinois and hope to get a positive response from them. Auto theft is a huge problem everywhere. I know it will make a difference. But it will only make a difference if people will use it. If I could give you more information that might convince you, perhaps you may be interested in being a part of this venture. .P lease, if you want more information or have questions please get in touch with me at my E-Mail address ( cadillacjim @msn.com) Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you . When my dad was still young, well fairly young, he liked few music. But he did like you. Especially your song Mandy. So when his first child came around, who happened to be a girl (me) she was named Mandy. Well growing up yea I did hear the music, but you know I was into the modern stuff. About a year before his death I started taking pride in my name. I mean, after all Mandy is a great song. So I would listen to it very frequently. Well, the song always brought a few tears to my eyes, because it reminds me of the love my father had to me. He committed suicide 4 monthes and 3 days ago, and now more than ever I lean on this song. When I get really sad I listen to it, and it reminds me of his love for me. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Manilow, as a child, I've experienced a revolution and a terror regime which created my live. I know the feeling of fear and helplessness. I don't want to go to details. I've locked myself in my room and listened to a tape with your songs without understanding a word of English. Your music helped me to pass that time easier. Music is the universal language of us human beings and you have proven that. One line of one of your songs says,"God knows it's not easy just being alive", this is so true. It will take more than a few lines to tell you the influence that your art had in my live. I really want to thank you for chancing my live. God bless you and good luck for your new album. Truly Yours, Kamran-Michael Varasteh

P.S. Will your new album also be available in Germany ?

I noticed from your tour schedule that you have Atlanta listed as TBD. I know it is far off in the future but I do but I hope you can make it to Atlanta. I am 34 now and a long time fan. I have been a fan of yours since I was 10. At 13 I saw you in concert in Birmingham Alabama. You were one of the great memories of my childhood. Your music helped me get through those tough growing up years. I thank you for your generosity. I have a confession to make. A year ago I purchased tickets to Barry Manilow's Copa Cabana from ticketmaster. This is so stupid. I thought I was actually going to see you. I was disappointed at first but it was a good production and I enjoyed it anyway. I look forward to seeing you in the future if you come to Atlanta. Sincerely, Suzi Rooker Ivy, Atlanta, GA :-)

Dear Barry,

I just read your message you had posted on the internet for all to see. It is a very important and significant message you shared with us. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for I too fear for Muslim people all over the world that are the innocent ones in this world wide tragedy. I am American, however, I have a great deal of compassion for all races, religions, beliefs etc. Your right, I only hope that the American government does not discriminate against all Muslim people. My heart goes out to them. They must be terrified. I am going to forward your message from "Reshma Memon Yaqub", journalist for the Washington Post, to my friends and family and anyone else I can think of that we all keep PEACE in perspective.

Dear Barry,

I just finished reading your book "Sweet Life" Adventures on the way to Paradise, and it literally moved me so much it brought tears to my eyes. I just wanted you to know that with the tragedy in New York and around the world, I've had a tough time dealing and absorbing all of it. Thanks to you and your music my life is returning to some kind of normalcy. You are a true inspiration to me, your music is uplifting and always has helped me through some tough times. I thank God for you and what you've accomplished in your lifetime, ups and downs like everyone else, and you never gave up !!! I'm so grateful for that ! I've been your fan since I was 21 yrs. old. in 1974 and always will remain your friend and supportive FAN from Kansas City.

Oh, by the way. I hope you received my letter of apology when I was at your Birthday Party in Chicago. I was the little gal with the blonde hair in the black dress approaching the stage during the Q&A session. I didn't know the drill and it showed. I was so inquizative and had a million questions going through my head. During the playing of "Mayflower" I may be mistaken, however, I could have sworn you were staring at me in the back of the room. Maybe, wishful thinking, huh? I'll never know? Your still a real hottie and a heartbreaker and wish I could have met you in your early days !!! I'm going to try and make your concert when you hit St. Louis, MO. I'd better close, I just wanted to Thank you for the music and for being YOU!!!

July 10, 2001

Dear Barry,

I was at your Chicago Convention, Birthday Brunch and Q&A session on 06/17/2001. I had a wonderful time and everyone involved did a professional job. I was very impressed, although I wasn't surprised. I hope you had a "Great Birthday" !!

I feel I owe you an apology, for I wouldn't feel right unless I did so. I was the short blonde in the black dress that was slowly approaching the stage during your Q&A session. I would have never come on stage, although, I got pretty close to you, when security stopped me. The gentleman asked me what I needed and I told him I had a question for yourr. Being my first convention, I didn't know the drill and unfortunately it showed. I didn't realize I needed to write my question down and enter it into a box. So, I was trying to keep a low profile while trying to get your attention to ask if your "Grandpa was instrumental in introducing you to the magical power of music because he saw the potential talent you were blessed with. I just wanted to know if you would have chosen the same path you did in the music industry/entertainer field regardless? The story you tell about your family and Grandpa on your "DVD" Manilow Live, really touched me. What a wonderful story, for your music has "STOOD THE TEST OF TIME" and the way you sing Sinatra's song, "All The Way", really knocks my socks off". That particular song moves me so much because it makes you "FEEL" so deeply, it literally brought tears to my eyes because you sing it (and many other songs) with so much emotion !!

I also apologize for having to leave in the middle of listening to your new song "Mayflower"? My friend informed me at the brunch that she had changed our existing airline flight to leave 2 hours earlier than planned. That's why we had to get up and leave. I did not feel it was appropriate or considerate to get up in the middle of a song that you were kind enough to share with us. My friend was full of surprises during this trip. I had made the accomadations and she was changing them on the spur of the moment. I should have kept my 7:35 P.M. flight back to K.C., regardless. My 90 yr. old father and I love your "Manilow Sings Sinatra". I'm another individual that has to have music in my daily life and my adult sons' are the same way. My boy's still walk around the house singing "Mandy" and "Copa" because I used to pick them up and dance around the house with them ever since they were infants. They even sit down with me watching and enjoying your videos.

Before I close, I send my sincere apologies to you and the "Manilow Family" of any distrations on my part, which may have offended or inconvenienced anyone in any way. Especially YOU !!

Hopefully, you'll come back to K.C. to see us. I only wish I had made a better impression; for sometimes you only get one chance to make a good impression in life. Oh, I'm the one that left you the manila envelope giving Vickie Thomas rave reviews for being so customer focused and my "Thank you" letter to you for being kind enough to send me your pictured authograph last October, 2000, through the mail. Of course, Vickie helped me out with that one too !! I met some nice people from around the world at your convention; hopefully I'll get to make the next one. I hope you have a "Great" Convention in the UK and Congratulations on your shows. I know that "CIBM" is going to be a great success just like "Copa", and I wish you the best success for "Harmony" as well.

Your Supportive FAN, Cathy Allen The Up-Tempo Gurl from K.C. (AllenPARMAN@aol.com)

Dear Mr. Manilow, me and my friend (we're both 31) discovered your music accidently when we were 18 by buying "Mandy". Since then we bought everything we could get. Unfortunately you are not as popular here in Germany as in the States, so things are harder to get. Do you intend ever to do a Germany-tour again? We're both classical musicians ourselves (trumpet and clarinet) and we admire the arrangements you write-especially those with original wind and brass sections! Hopefully we will see you live in concert one day... Sincerely, Elvira

Dear Barry,

I hope this gretting finds you happy and healthy. I received an E-mail (since I'm one of your BMIFC members) saying you would be performing in Houston, TX. I would love to be there, however, I am looking at having knee surgery within this month or the month of March, 2001. I have been to at least a dozen of your concerts on the East and West Coast, since my siblings are all scattered. When you come to their area to perform my sibling's purchase tickets for me and I just fly out there and stay with them and have the opportunity to be at your concerts. What a treat! huh? I sent a lettter to Vikki Thomas to FAX to you sending my sincere and deepest condolences regarding Bob Kief's passing. I also E-mailed Garry Kief and told him that me and my family will remember Bob and his family in our prayers through this difficult time. I also sent a message to Gary Oye and he told me my best bet would be to send this message to Vikki Thomas (who has been kind enough to help me in the past) and maybe she could FAX my "BARRY" story to you. It goes like this:

When my husband and I brought home our first son, he had collic. Every parent's nightmare. Anyway, I was calling our pediatrician at all hours of the day and night in despair of what to do. For our son was not a happy camper. The baby doctor told me to play some nice music in his nursery at home on top of the medication our son was taking for his condition. So, dazed and confused from no sleep, I tried playing Bach, Mozach and nothing seemed to help. Getting close to losing our sanity around here, I decided to get our your cassettes and play your music to our infant son. (This was in 1980). Your music not only calmed him down, our son started sleeping 4-6 hours at a stretch. When your cassettes had run out it wouldn't take long for our son to start fussing again. So, my husband said in the middle of the night "Honey, you know what you need to do" Rewind Barry's music and get it going again so we don't go crazy around here. Our son finds Barry's music very calming and I can't tell you what a lifesaver your music turned out to be. When I took our son in for his 4 month check up for immuization shots, my pediatrician looked at me and said, " I haven't heard from you for quite a while". What's the deal? I proceeded to tell him our experience with the effect your music had on our infant son and my pediatrician said "If Barry Manilow's music is so effective on a collicky baby, then I would recommend that we pipe in Barry's music in all the hospital nurseries in K.C." I said, Whew! Barry's music worked for me and our son was grew out of being collic at this point. Two years later when we brought home our second son, Thank God he was much mellower, however, if he decided to have a cranky time of it, my husband said, get Barry's music wired for sound in case we need with our new baby. Thank God he didn't need it however, I still to this day play Barry's music all the time. Our son's are 18 and 20 years old and they both walk around the house singing "Mandy and Copacabana". How ironic, huh? I know every parent can relate to my story, for when the "little ones are happy, EVERYONE is happy"! I can't Thank you enough especially for all the wonderful years of your music since I've been with you since 1973 or 74. I know you've probably heard everything now! I just wanted to share my experience with you and let you know what an impact your music has made in my life. I'll never outgrow you! Anyway, I know I'm getting mushy so I had better close. I hope I am not out of line, but if you decide to come back to K.C. for a concert, I would love to be your "CSWY Gurl" and share my story with the audience. I know all the words and am comfortable in front of a crowd. I think it's because I'm a people person. I'm just hoping I get the chance to sing with you before you decide to kick your feet up and retire. Something tells me that we would all be surprised if it came to that. I hope I'm right.

My best wishes always, Cathy Allen AllenPARMAN@aol.com

P.S. Thank you for sending me your picture/autograph in the mail a few months ago. I'm not a fanatic Fan, just a loyal and faithful one.

Barry,

The reason I chose "I can't Smile without you is because I would love to be considered to be picked as your CSWY Gurl. If you come back to K.C., don't worry, I know all the words so you wouldn't need to worry about that and I have a story behind this great little song you might be interested in.

Thank you so much for your consideration. I've been following your career since 1974 and as Michelle would love to share my story.

If I'm not picked, you'll have't to answer to a 4'11", 110 pounder. I'm sure I've really put the fear of God in you, right? ha! ha!

Take care and wishing you and yours' a Happy 2001 New Year filled with PEACE, LOVE & JOY!

Best Wishes, Uptempo/Livewire Gurl Cathy

P.S. I'm really harmless. I just wanted to put a bug in your ear because anything is possible. Right?

I think it would be nice that on your next tour of the full old song that you tell the story of who and how the song came about.

Dear Barry,

I hope you personally receive this message. I know it's the Holidays and I hope I'm not hasseling you. Lord know you're busy enough, right? Even it your timing out, you certainly deserve it. I'm not sure if you remember me but I got ahold of Vicki Thomas with "StarGlow Direct" a couple months ago and she was nice enough to forward my letter to you requesting your autograph. Since you were kind enough to acknowledge my request with your pictured autograph , I sent you a "Thank You" note and pic of myself to Vicki to personally mail to you. Could'nt very well send a pick of myself over the FAX? I'm very impressed and I certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness. You are truely a "living legend" and your music is timeless and will always go on and on through out the years ahead. I deffinately acknowledge you in the same company of Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mercer and of course Bobby Darin. I'm not just saying this stuff either to get on your good side. I am a BMIFC member and next time you come to K.C., would it be asking too much if I could be considered your "CSWY Gurl"? It would be a dream come true to be on the same stage as you. WOW! Oh well, I'm sure you get these kind of request all the time. I've been to at least a dozen of your concerts on the East & West Coast, even though I live in the Midwest. I have a large family and when you come their way to perform, they purchase tickets for me so I can fly to the concert and stay with them. (I'm grateful for being on a very flexible schedule). Not bad, huh? I just got a CD of Bobby Darin and I can just see you singing "Mack the Knife" (your way, of course). However, I'm partial to your style, for your showmanship is absolutely unstoppable. I just had the need to let you know. Don't worry, I'm not a crazed FAN or anything like that. It's just that your music gets me through my arobic exercises because it is so motivating. How can you not boogy when your listening to your music? So, for the past 25 years, I "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart for all the years of hard work and beautiful music. It will always mean alot to me.

Best Wishes for a Blessed Holiday Season.

Cathy The Uptempo Gurl

P.S. I got that from you and I can't stop saying it. It's great!

Hello Barry,

I hope this message reaches you to let you know that K.C. misses you bad. I'm not trying to bend your ear but I am trying to book tickets to one of your upcoming concerts that would be out of town for me. However, it would be so awesome (hint, hint) if you could come back for a concert in the Midwest. I am a BMIFC member and would love the chance to be your "CSWY" girl. I know I'm somewhat of a live wire but this has been a dream of mine for over 20 years. Just like other thousands of girls. If you do not make it back to K.C. in the near future, I will work it into my plans to travel to one of your concerts that's not too far from K.C. The only catch is you would have't to choose me to come on state with you. Oh well, I can only dream on.

Thanks for listening and sending my best wishes.

Hi Barry,

I hope I'm not bending your hear, however, I'm the one that you were kind enoug to send me autograph/pic answering my letter I had written to you a few month's ago. Vicki Thomas at StarGlow Direct was kind enough to FAX you my request and you were kind enough to acknowledge my request for an autograph which I've been trying to get for at least 20+ years. I can't "Thank You" enough, for you really take good care of your FANS! After I received your autograph/pic I sent Vicki Thomas a "Thank You" letter plus picture I.D. of myself for her to forward to you. I hope you personally received it, for this would mean a great deal to me. I even copied a letter to Vicki's boss and yourself letting you both know how cutomer focused and helpful she was. I wanted you to know what wonderful people you have working for you. For, it seems like all we seem to hear these days is the bad things about our employees. I am no longer with Sprint Corp., it just wasn't that fulfilling and I have always thrived on music since I can remember. Seems to be in my blood. This world would be such a drag without music. That's why I cannot get over your incredible talent and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the 20+ years of music. Your music has meant a great deal to me and always will to my world. Your music just can't help but melt people. I'm a Fan Club member and have been to at least a dozen of your concerts from the East & West Coast, even though I live in Overland Park, KS. I come from a family of 6 siblings and we are all scattered. Whenever you perform on the East/West Coast, my siblings purchase tickets for me and I'm on the phone booking flight arrangements. (even though I live in the Midwest). The amazing thing is that my husband doesn't mind. If you come back to K.C. to perform, could I be your CSWY" girl? Even though I haven't been picked out of the thousands, I'm not going to get discouraged. I'm only 4'11" and very petite and hard to see. I've never been a quiter. Currently, I am fortunate enoug not to have't to work so I gave up my job with "Sprint". I'd like to seek other career possibilities and figure people should do what they enjoy because were going to be working a long time. Right? I would perfer doing something I enjoy, not just a job that's a job! If you happen to need a secretary, I'm your gal. I better close for now, and hope you received my "Thank You" letter and photo I.D. Vicki Thomas at StarGlow Direct and I are getting to be pretty good friends over the phone because I believe we are both people person's. She's so pleasant and congenial, I gave her rave reviews and told her boss when her review time came up she should be considered for a raise. Pretty bold, huh, I'm just telling the truth.

Again, Thank you for all the wonderful years of music magic.

Very truly yours, Cathy Allen

Hello Barry,

I know your a busy man, however, I just wanted to let you know how impressed I have been with your career and you are such an inspiration to me. I really want to Thank You for having a foundation for Eye Research. My father is 89 years old and losing his eyesight due to old age. There hasn't been much medical research to obtain better eyesight. I Thank you from the bottom of my heart that maybe a cure will come from your foundation. What a refreshing idea! I have been trying to meet you and get your autograph since 1989 but with no luck. I am a housewife with 2 teenage boys and would love the opportunity to get to meet you. Presently, I am trying to catch a plane to attend one of your Cobacabanna musicals you are currently touring. I live in K.C. and at your concert in 1980 I came close to getting your autograph, for I was one of the ushers for Starlight Theatre and Sandstone Amphitheatre. I would appreciate any advice or imput on your part and hope this message reaches you!

Sincerely,

Your biggest FAN in K.C.

Cathy Allen 11929 West 93rd Street Lenexa, Kansas 66215 (913) 492-3824 E-mail AllenPARMAN@aol.com

Hello Barry,

Sending you this message to let you know how much I have enjoyed your music since in the middle 70's. I am one of your biggest FANS in Kansas City and attended one of your concerts here at Starlight Theatre in 1980 and failed to get your autograph then (but I tried). Also, I attended your concert at K.C. Sandstone Theatre last September 1999. When my sisiter told me you would be performing at the Concorde Pavillion on September 25 where she lives, she bought me tickets, however, I was unable to get a flight out of K.C. to Oakland. She lives there and had to really rub it in that I missed it. Oh well, what can I say I tried. I keep trying. Your music is a great motivator. I get up moving and groving to the music and accomplish my household chores this way. It would be a dream come true if I could have the opportunity to meet you and ask you for your autograph. I know your a busy man, maybe, next time your in Kansas City I could be so lucky to arrange to shake your hand and say "KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK".

Thanks for listening and if your interested my E-mail address is :

Hello Barry,

I've been an Executive Secretary for nine years and cant believe that I am still trying to get used to my new home computer. (WOW) I just wanted to let you know my favorite song of yours has always been "I am your Child". (Not to mention "Mandy"), and at least another 100 songs of yours. Your songs are so uplifting and helped me through a difficult time when I lost my Mother a few years ago. Your music is like having a cup of coffee to me and I always seem to have a better day. I saw you for the first time in Kansas City at Starlight Theatre in 1980 where my sister-in-law happened to be an usher. She tried to get your autograph for me but I know you had a show to do and appreciated her efforts. Now that I am 47 years old, I was at your concert in September, 1999 in Kansas City at Sandstone for my Wedding Anniversary. I had to show my husband that you are still one hell of a "SHOWMAN"; and he totally agreed. A week later I was talking to my sister in Pleasant Hill, CA and she told me that you were performing at the Concord Pavilion on September 25th. I checked on getting travel tickets so I could be there and my son sent them a FAX telling the Concord Pavillion how much it would mean to me after just seeing you perform a few weeks earlier. Needless to say, I had no idea my son had done this and was only trying to make me happy. He knows how much I've been trying to ask for your autograph. I know it was a sweet gesture on his part, for both my boys are good kids, shy and very sensitive. Anyway, I had better close for now; I'm sure I have bent your ear enough. All I can ask it that you receive this message from a huge fan. Your talent is such a gift and your touch people in your music and the honesty that comes through in your music. It is very refreshing and K.C. hopes and would be honored if you could come our way again. That would be a "real treat". You've worked very hard to make it in the music world and more power to you. I know the saying goes "we have some crazy little women "and I'm gonna get me one! I could'nt resist that one and was a commercial model a few years back, for I'm only 4"11'.

My best regards,

Cathy Allen (913) 492-3824

Can't wait until you come back to New Jersey again to peform at the arts center. It was wonderful to see so many people of different ages enjoying your music. Something you could actually dance to -compared to todays music. You have touched the hearts of many-and I was wondering if you ever perform in Atlantic city.? Looking foward to seeing you soon--please don't change your show at all. Not only are you a wonderful singer-but a great entertainer. That story about your grandfather-touched my heart. God Bless you for turning out the way your grandfather would have wanted you to. Much love and Happiness to you.
